Meteora – Thessaly, Greece
Greece has many world-famous structures and buildings but one of them is especially fascinating. Meteora, which can be translated as “suspended in the air”, is a bunch of monasteries built on sand pillars. Let that sink in for a moment. Meteora is now under UNESO’s wing as a part of World Heriatge program.
Inside the cavities, fissures and peaks of Meteora rocks, numerous people found protection from various dangerous situations like raids, weather disasters. These rocks also served them as a place for meditation. People often came to this secluded location seeking tranquility and mental equilibrium, or just to get away from the mundane reality.
