Hydropolis Underwater hotel – Dubai, United Arab Emirates Depth: 65ft
The opening of the much-delayed Hydropolis has been postponed indefinitely due to technical difficulties, but with an expected price tag of around $550 million dollars, this underwater hotel may eventually prove to be the most expensive. Currently under construction in Dubai, Hydropolis will be the world’s first luxury underwater hotel. It will include three elements: the land station, the connecting tunnel, which will transport people by train to the main area of the hotel, and the 220 suites within the submarine leisure complex. It is one of the largest contemporary construction projects in the world, covering an area of 260 hectares. A huge, petal-shape retracting roof will allow the stage of open-sky activities. More so, the land station of Hydropolis has an amazing restaurant and an ultra-modern cinema showing the evolution of life in the sea as well as the historical facts of underwater architecture.
