According to the Daily Telegraph , the castle is now owned by the descendants of Britain’s Queen Victoria. The family, whose surname is Habsburg, all in their 70s, who lack the time and energy to carry out the renovations the castle needs. (It currently has no toilets or bathrooms.)
The Habsburg royal family, including 10-year-old Dominic, was forced out of the castle in 1948 when the communist regime took over Romania. 58 years later, Bran Castle was returned to the Hapsburgs, who have been maintaining it since.
