Eco-friendly Houses Built of Salvaged Materials.
A great part of the building materials used to construct this eco-friendly House in Enschede, Netherlands, were salvaged from abandoned building sites. Almost 60 per cent of salvaged materials were used for the exterior of the house, and 90 per cent for the interiors. The architects looked for abandoned building sites in a nine mile radius around the plot, and then salvaged materials, that would otherwise have gone to waste. Even some of the smaller details of the house were salvaged, including umbrella spokes used for the lighting.
