If you’ve ever watched and liked the Flintstones cartoons, you’ll adore this remarkable location. Built in ’74, this structure had no electricity and had to be lit entirely with candles. One of the Portugal’s most secluded holiday destinations, House of Stone (Casa do Penedo) is made almost exclusively our of the said stone and it located between 4 colossal rocks about 10 km northeast of Fafe’s city center.

If it wasn’t for the roofs, windows and wooden doors, this “hut” would be 100% made or rock. The house blends in with the mountains like a chameleon. It used to serve as a retreat destination from the big city life but has recently become incredibly popular among the tourists. It’s funny that Victor Rodriguez, the current owner of the house, still has no idea what to do with the new-found popularity.
